I like how you put the moon there and the glitter of stars and a branch of gaseous Milky Way to give the viewer a sense of depth of space and the galaxy. This really conveys how expansive deep space really is.
I also like the title too...not a war scene...and simple to get the message across that after a vast journey of space, I could see home. Would be nice for a Sci-fi book cover.

Yes, I made the spaceships as wells as the window, they were created in Cinema 4D.
The nebula is mix of painting and some photo manipulation (but mainly painting).
Hope it helped a little

You can also use Maya or 3Ds Max for that if you want.
